Sky Lanterns have evolved with time. Not only have they been here for a while they have quite some history and legends about them. Today, they are mostly used in celebrations and anniversaries but they have been around for a while and had different uses and functions.

Sky lanterns have been around for about 2000 years now. To some people they believed it was a tool of good will and good luck. When they are lit they are a symbol of protection and wading off the presence of evil spirits.

In the western world today, they are mostly used in parties, anniversaries and such celebrations. At one time, they are characteristic of America’s independence celebrations. In some quarters, they are lit on July 4th annually for instance. When they are always lit, people watching are always asked to make a wish or say a prayer and in some places it is believed that as they swag in the skies, worries and troubles are being flown away.

These legends surrounding Sky lanterns whether true or not, have all evolved this unique object into something beautiful and essential in our world today. In spite of who is using them for whatever purpose, they are an important object today.
